 2016 Preview 


       With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region 4, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. A.L. Johnson's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Brantley by a score of 35-12.

       Since 2010, A.L. Johnson has gone a combined 29-33. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 1A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, A.L. Johnson has managed to compile a record of 127-135. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 1A and 210th in the AHSAA.

       The Eagles are led by head coach Johnny Ford who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-13 over the past two seasons at A.L. Johnson. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Ford.

      The A.L. Johnson Eagles will play in Class 1A region 1 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Eagles remain in 1A but move from region 4 over to region 1.

      

       The Eagles open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent R.C. Hatch on Friday, August 19 at A.L. Johnson Stadium. Last year the R.C. Hatch Bobcats finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 2A region 4. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Autaugaville by a score of 30-0.

       A.L. Johnson and R.C. Hatch have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 12-8-0 record against the Bobcats. They last met in 2022 with R.C. Hatch winning by a score of 38-18.
